David Lamothe (center) President, Carte Blanche Promotional Products Inc. |
| David Lamothe was born and raised in North Bay. During this time, he learned the intricacies of printing and graphic design from his father, a business man and professor at Canadore College. David attended Laurentian University in Sudbury where he studied Sociology, Philosophy, and Religion. It was here that he met and married his life-partner, who was completing an undergraduate degree in nursing. Throughout his university education, David worked for Tip Top Tailors to cover tuition costs and upon graduating, he accepted a full-time management position with the company. His business acumen earned him management positions in increasingly larger satellite stores in Sudbury and Ottawa. David had numerous speaking engagements during this time, facilitating workshops on customer service and sales techniques with senior managers and employees from across Ontario. On the eve of the birth of his first child, he was offered a position with head office in Toronto. At this time, he made the pivotal decision to re-locate home to North Bay to assist with running the family business, and raise his children in the community that had nurtured him during his formative years. |
| David started from the bottom, washing floors, answering phones, and learning the craft of silk screen printing and embroidery. Subsequently, he learned about the digitizing of logos, where a drawing could be converted instantly into stitches. This period gave him a wealth of experience and practical knowledge that he is able to employ when guiding customers on effective presentation of their logo. When dealing with manufacturers on complex issues of logo application, David has given the experts some innovative suggestions. |
| In 1994, David realized his vision to provide a niche market service to his customers through the incorporation of his new company, Carte Blanche Promotional Products. Since the inception of Carte Blanche, David has stayed current with changes and innovations in the industry, with several yearly trips to trade shows around North America. He also maintains a membership with the Promotional Products Association of Canada (PPAC). This dedication and commitment, combined with 10 years of management experience with Tip Top allows David to bring a very unique approach to an old business. He is able to balance what the customer needs with what the customer wants. His greatest strength lies in his relationships with his clients He specializes in the delivery of multi-platform recognition programs to large companies such as Good Year Canada. In 2005, David’s creative efforts paid off when Carte Blanche was awarded the national PPAC Image Award for effective and innovative programming for Good Year. |
| David is a family man with four children, who continues to maintain an active presence in North Bay. He is committed to helping those who are less fortunate and financially supports the Anishnabek Seventh Generation Charity, Patrick 4 Life, and the North Bay Minor Hockey and Soccer Associations. Over the past 6 years, he has served two separate two-year terms on the Heritage Festival Management Committee and 4 years on the board of directors for Community Counseling Services of North Bay.
